Through the Lock Forcible Entry
Theory, Practice, and Application for Fire Personnel
Service Description
This class is designed to teach the principles of Through The Lock Forcible Entry to firefighters interested in both less destructive and non-destructive entry techniques. The class is divided into two portions: Lock theory, construction, and usage in both residential and commercial settings, and the hands-on portion making entry through various locks and locking systems. Skills will be developed using a combination of lecture, video, lab breakout sessions, and manual manipulation. Emphasis will be placed on lock identification, bypass techniques, both covert and overt entry methods, tools of the trade, special case locks, and specific brand defeats. The course will conclude with a multi-lock scenario designed to test the student’s retention of the defeat techniques discussed in the class. This is an excellent class to learn and refresh the skills of Through the Lock Forcible Entry, as well as update skill levels with new current techniques dealing with today’s locking systems. Course textbook and tools will be provided, however students are encouraged to bring any TTL FE tools they wish to use during the class. Students attending the course will be awarded several personal TTL FE tools in recognition of their course completion. NOTE: Due to the sensitive nature of this class and the materials covered ONLY active career and volunteer firefighters (background checked) are allowed to attend.
